Congratulations to Stonebriar Homeowners Association for its exceptional beautification efforts, which not only improved the value of the community, but was honored with a National Award.
History Stonebriar was created approximately 18 years ago; consequently, the community was suffering from an outdated appearance throughout the neighborhood. In addition, the now mature material created problems with traffic, was blocking sidewalks, or was too crowded in the planted area. Some of the worst concerns were a number of cul-de-sacs with planted "island areas" and the main entrance to the community. Residents had complained for years to the Board and at the annual meeting about these issues, particularly because the community was in competition with newer associations and communities surrounding them.
Efforts In 2002, Stonebriar hired Hadden Landscaping. The Stonebriar Landscape Committee, Matt Moore of SBB Management Company, and Hadden Landscaping worked together over the past three (3) years to refurbish the community. Approximately 90% of the planting areas were refurbished, more than 100 trees were added throughout the community, dead or sick trees were replaced, and the 50-station irrigation system was thoroughly renovated to minimize waste. The problems with traffic visibility were corrected.
Resolution The community appearance has so improved, that residents are now applauding the Committee's efforts. In 2004, the Associated Landscape Contractors of America presented Stonebriar with their "Environmental Improvement Distinction Award." This National award was presented "in recognition of [their] efforts in improving the environment for the benefit of mankind. This award commends [them] for promoting, protecting and preserving the heritage of beauty for all future generations." Stonebriar is reportedly the only association in the North Texas area to receive this award.
