Congratulations to Craig Ranch Community Association for exemplifying the best spirit of community.
History Recently, a vehicle that was parked in the garage of a rented home caught fire. The family's three children and their grandparents, who were in the family room above the garage, were able to make it safely out of the home. Just minutes later, the tires and gas tank exploded on the vehicle, ripping the roof out of the family room and rendering the home uninhabitable for several months.
Efforts Craig Ranch has an extensive community website and over half of the owners receive the weekly e-mail updates. Almost immediately after the fire occurred, the Association responded by sending out a blast e-mail with information about the fire. The Social Committee immediately mobilized to coordinate a donation drive for the victims, a family of 5. The Donation Drive information was sent out to all of the residents and the response was tremendous.
Local businesses collected cash donations from their employees; residents dropped by cash and gift card donations. The single greatest contribution came from an owner who resided in California; he had purchased a home in Craig Ranch in anticipation of a job transfer. Since the transfer hadn't occurred yet, he offered his home to the fire victims for 6 months absolutely free!
Resolution Thanks to the overwhelming response of compassion and community concern, the renters have decided to make Craig Ranch their permanent home and are in the process of purchasing.
